GORGEOUS Petra Nemcova is is to join the ranks of models with their own TV series after signing a deal to present a new reality show.
The 27-year-old Czech supermodel will front The Petra Nemcova Project for American channel TLC in the summer.
It is likely to hit UK screens soon after.
Petra hit the headlines after being seriously injured in the Asian tsunami in 2004. She survived by clinging to a tree for eight hours but her fiance was killed.
She also used to date singer James Blunt.
Her show - billed as “grittier” than series such as America’s Next Top Model - will feature girls from around the world auditioning for a contract with a top New York agency.
Petra will act as a mentor and guide for the would-be models, helping them understand the world of fashion.
The show follows other hit model series such as Project Runway, fronted by Heidi Klum, and The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency.
But producer Dave Broome said Petra’s show would be different. "With no disrespect, those shows are the make-believe world of modeling. We're doing the reality," he said.
He added the girls in the show had been cast because of their potential to thrive in the real world of modeling rather than for their potential to create reality show "drama."
"This isn't a gameshow," he said. "You're not going to get the clawing and bitch-slapping you get in the other shows. The drama here is real and not put together."
