Hopefully this Anna Nicole Saga will be over soon

Larry Birkhead and Virgie Arthur arrived separately in the Bahamas on the afternoon of March 16 to attend a crucial court hearing in the ongoing fight for custody of Anna Nicole Smith’s 6-month old daughter, Dannielynn.

The judge will determine if Howard K Stern is required to submit to a paternity test, even though he is listed on the baby’s birth certificate as her father. It is Birkhead’s hope that the DNA testing will take place today.

Both Stern and Birkhead claim to be Dannielynn’s biological father.

Birkhead, 34, says that he’s anticipating a positive outcome to today’s hearing. “I’m hoping for the best,” he says. “I’m hoping for good news.”

He also says that he has confidence in the Bahamian court system. Birkhead arrived with his Bahamian lawyer, Emmrick Knowles, after his American attorney, Debra Opri, abruptly dropped Birkhead as a client.

Opri told Extra that she “had enough,” but that she “wishes Larry the best.” When asked about Opri’s decision, Birkhead declined comment.

In the meantime, Birkhead is preparing a nursery for Dannielynn. “It’s great,” he said, when asked how decorating was coming along.

And the saga continues.

UPDATE: Larry Birkhead confirms to Usmagazine.com that he got some good news—the judge in the case has ordered DNA tests.

Howard K Stern was a no-show.

However, Birkhead and Stern have been ordered back to the Bahamas on Tuesday, March 20 to hear testimony from DNA experts, and to further discuss Stern's fitness as a father.

When leaving the courtroom, Birkhead was in very good spirits. "I can't say what happened today, just that I'm happy and grateful," Birkhead tells Us. "I know I'm the father," he continued. "I just want the court to know I'm the father. I will be back on Tuesday."

Howard K. Stern Admits He is a Slimeball & not the Father of Danilynne

Howard K. Stern has reportedly admitted he's not the father of Anna Nicole Smith's daughter Dannielynn and is now willing to sign over the paternity rights to the man who believes he is the baby's real dad, Larry Birkhead — for the right price.

Since Anna Nicole's shock death last month at the age of 39, the legal wrangling over paternity has increased, with an adamant Larry continuing the fight he started when Dannielynn was born last September.

However, while Anna Nicole fended off Larry's court orders for a DNA test, now she's passed away it's rumoured Howard is willing to hand Dannielynn over to Larry in exchange for a portion of her estate.

While Howard is listed as the girl's father on the birth certificate, insiders say that, during a recent meeting with Larry, he confessed he's not the dad. While Anna Nicole fought to keep Larry away from Dannielynn while she was alive, Howard let his former lover's rival meet the baby recently.

In exchange for giving Dannielynn to Larry, insiders say Howard wants ongoing control of Anna Nicole's estate. Once all the issues surrounding the estate have been settled, he also wants to become Dannielynn's trustee.

It's unknown how much money Anna Nicole had when she died, but the star had recently won the right to contest more than $600 million from the estate of her late husband J. Howard Marshall II, an oil billionaire who died in 1995 without writing Anna Nicole into his will.

Howard, who's admitted he was financially dependent on Anna Nicole, is also rumoured to be claiming the Bahamas house and the boat the star bought shortly before her death.

While Larry hasn't commented publicly on the secret deal between the two men, he has revealed how happy it made him to hold five-month-old Dannielynn for the first time. He says seeing her confirmed to him what he knew in his heart all along — that he is her father. "She's mine," he says. "That's my baby. She looks like me — she is mine."

Larry Birkhead Has an Anna Nicole Tattoo that she made him get

Larry Birkhead will always have his former girlfriend Anna Nicole Smith on his back, literally.

Access Hollywood's exclusive interview with the photographer and former boyfriend of Smith revealed a cartoon impression of the late blonde bombshell, located just above his jean line.

"I have a tattoo on my back so I carry that around," he told Access. "It's a picture of Anna so wherever I go, she goes."

The tattoo was inked on Birkhead in December 2005 when he and Anna were still together. He got the body art in fact, at the insistence of the former Playboy cover star.

"I really didn't want a tattoo and then we argued about it forever," Birkhead told Access. "Then finally when I got to the point I wanted to do [it] because I wanted to, then finally she said 'Okay, don't worry about it.' Then I said 'I'll do it.'"

Birkhead said Smith actually helped him through the tattoo process, which for some can be painful.

WTF: Pregnant Anna Nicole High & in Clown Face?

A stunning video shows a barely functional Anna Nicole Smith, stammering and stuttering, as Howard K. Stern rhapsodizes about how much money the clip will be worth.

The tape, which aired Monday night on Greta Van Susteren's show on FOX News Channel, shows an eight-month pregnant Smith, her face painted like a clown and clearly stoned out of her mind. As she talks to a doll in a baby carriage as if it's real, Stern repeatedly says, "Is this a mushroom trip?" He then adds, "I'm kidding."

Another part of the tape shows Smith even more out of it. Stern's comment: "This footage is worth money."

Autopsy Under Way for Anna Nicole

Investigators began an autopsy Friday to help determine the cause of Anna Nicole Smith's death, according to the Broward County medical examiner's office.

There was no indication how long the autopsy would take. Police said they are planning a news conference at noon Friday.

If the exam determines she died of natural causes, the results should be released soon. If not, it could take weeks for tests to determine what killed the 39-year-old reality TV star, Playboy playmate and former Guess model.

Authorities investigating Smith's death retrieved a "large amount" of prescription medicine from her hotel room, law enforcement sources said. The sources did not characterize any of the drugs as illegal.

Smith died Thursday at a South Florida hospital after being discovered unconscious in her hotel room.

Her death came fewer than five months after the birth of her daughter and the death of her 20-year-old son.

One of two men involved in a paternity dispute over Smith's daughter is seeking a DNA sample, and a hearing also is set for Friday morning.

Smith checked into the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Monday with her lawyer and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern.

Smith's private nurse called hotel workers at 1:38 p.m. Friday, and security officials went to the room, Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said.

Before rescue workers arrived, Smith's bodyguard performed CPR on her, Tiger said. She was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, where she was pronounced dead at 2:49 p.m.

Late Thursday, police told CNN the hotel room where Smith was found had been cleared. Police carried bags of evidence out of the building.

Smith's attorney, Ron Rale, told reporters his client had been suffering from flulike symptoms for the last couple of days.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Rale said Smith had been sick for several days with a fever and was still depressed over the death of her son.

Meanwhile, "Entertainment Tonight's" Mark Steines, the last person to interview her, told CNN that Smith had to be placed in an ice bath Tuesday after her fever reached 105 degrees.

Her fever came down, Steines said, but on Wednesday she slipped and fell in the bathtub. When Stern and her nurse went to check on her, "she seemed a little bit out of it" but didn't appear to have suffered any significant injuries, Steines said.

"That led to yesterday," Steines said Friday, "when after taking a nap, I believe, she never came to and never woke up."

In a statement Thursday, Smith's sister, Donna Hogan, said: "We are saddened and heartbroken by my sister's death. No matter what our differences have been over the years, Anna was still our blood and she will be missed terribly.

"She was a woman who was determined to get out of her small town in Texas and make a name for herself."

Hogan went on to say that the death of Smith's son last year "left her deeply saddened, a sadness she hid from everyone." Dannielynn Hope "is now without a mother," Hogan wrote.

In September, Smith gave birth to Dannielynn Hope in the Bahamas. Her son, Daniel, was found dead in his mother's hospital room days later.

A life of celebrity and tribulations

Smith was known as much for her sometimes-turbulent life off-camera as she was for her show-business endeavors.

The former topless dancer in Houston, Texas, made her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, was named Playmate of the Year in 1993 and appeared in Guess jeans ads and movies.

In 2002, Smith launched a reality television program, "The Anna Nicole Show," on the E! Entertainment network. At one point, it was the network's highest-rated program.

She raised eyebrows in 1994 by marrying 89-year-old Texas oil magnate Howard Marshall II, who had an estate valued at $1.6 billion. He died the next year, and until her death Smith waged a legal battle over the inheritance that included a 2006 U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

"It's way too early for me to even guess what's going to happen in terms of other claims on behalf of the child," said Rusty Hardin, a Houston attorney who represents the Marshall family.

Earlier this week, Smith was included in a class-action lawsuit against TrimSpa, a company for which she was a spokeswoman in commercials and ads touting her weight loss.

TrimSpa makes a product it claims leads to substantial weight loss. The lawsuit alleges the marketing of the product, TrimSpa X32, was false or misleading.

Smith also was embroiled in a dispute over the paternity of Dannielynn Hope.

Larry Birkhead, an entertainment reporter and photographer who has claimed to be the girl's father, will be filing an emergency order to obtain DNA samples to determine paternity, said his attorney, Debra Opri.

Smith and Stern have both said that Stern is Dannielynn's father. Stern has said the couple planned to marry, but it was unclear whether they had. (Full story)

Rale said he would be in court to oppose the DNA order. A hearing is set for 8:30 a.m.PT.

"On the instructions of the experts, we had to move in for a DNA order tomorrow morning, and we're going in for that," Opri said.

On news of Smith's death, Opri said Birkhead was "inconsolable." "He has lost the mother of his child, and he has lost a woman he loved very much," she said.
